HEW it
The patent pending HEW rake was created to make trail work easier. The main design feature is the long face with the point in the middle. It’s designed to grab the trail bed and the backslope at the same time, automatically setting the backslope angle and guiding the work. Flip it over and there is a 16 or 18” flat rake. Turn it on the long end and you’re swinging a medium duty railroad pick, especially the .25” thick rake. In the various configurations these tools are weighing in between 5-7lbs. The tool in the picture is the 1st generation tool. It was the shape that proved the concept worked.
Depending on the dimensions of the steel plate, the size of the heads could change per batch up to 30% to reduce waste. This gives us an opportunity to offer multiple sizes of the HEW - in both .19” and .25” steel plate for even more possible combinations. The 1/4” x 18” rake heads - before beveling and without a collar - are weighing in at 4 lb 4 oz. The martial arts stick handled tool with this head is weighing in at 6 lb 7 oz.
